our products

The rolling unit of Sima Foulad Jahan Industrial Group possesses the capability to produce various types of rebar ranging from sizes 8 to 32 in grades A2 to A3 according to the 3132 standard, with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons. This company utilizes stricter criteria than the defined standards for meticulous control of the qualitative and dimensional properties of its products, which includes the following measures:

  • • Procurement of premium-grade raw materials exclusively from companies employing EAF (Electric Arc Furnace) or BOF (Basic Oxygen Furnace) production methods.
  • • Avoidance of billets with sulfur and phosphorus content exceeding 0.03% to ensure proper control of mechanical properties.
  • • Rigorous and continuous monitoring of incoming raw materials and the production process, surpassing the defined standards.
  • • Marking the company’s insignia on all products manufactured by Sima Foolad Jahan Industrial Group.

Introduction to Rebars

03

Specification and Features of Rebars

A2 Rebar specifications

  • A2 has a simple helical ribbed shape
  • It is semi-soft or semi-dry.
  • Yield stress is 3000 kg/cm².
  • Tensile stress is 6000 kg/cm².
  • Relative plastic deformation (at rupture) is 19.5%, recognized as semi-dry (brittle) and semi-soft reinforcement.

Application of A2:

It is suitable for stirrup making and construction operations. Although welding can be performed on A2, it is preferable to avoid welding if possible.

A3 Rebar specifications

  • A3 has a complex chevron-shaped rib.
  • It is a type of hard or brittle rebar.
  • Yield stress is 4000 kg/cm².
  • Tensile stress is 6000 kg/cm².
  • • Relative plastic deformation (at rupture) is 14.5%, known as dry (brittle) rebar.

Application of A3:

It is suitable for industrial construction and building operations. However, it is not suitable for extensive forging, sharp bends, or welding operations.

Comparison of A2 and A3 Rebars

In Terms of Appearance:

As mentioned, the ribs of A3 rebars are cross-shaped and in the form of a chevron and seven-shaped pattern. In contrast, the ribs of A2 rebars are parallel and single.

In addition to their appearance, you can easily identify the grade type of each rebar by the marking on it. Rebars produced are stamped with letters such as JU, JT, CU, and CT, where the letter C indicates the A3 rebar standard, and the letter J denotes the A2 rebar standard.

In Terms of Application:

A2 rebar cannot be used in forging industries and related occupations, but it is utilized for light construction operations and making various stirrups. In contrast, A3 rebar is used in building reinforcement for connecting longitudinal rebars.

In Terms of Product Pricing:

Generally, the price of rebars varies based on their rib pattern, flexibility, and tensile strength. Due to market fluctuations, the price of each rebar type differs. Since A2 and A3 rebars are similar in many respects, the final price difference is primarily influenced by dimensions, manufacturer brand, and quantity.

Mechanical Properties of Each Product

Different grades of rebars have varying mechanical properties, which allows them to be used in different applications. The mechanical properties of rebars include tensile strength, yield strength, bending characteristics, fatigue resistance, and weldability.

Tensile Strength

Rebars are used to compensate for the lack of concrete strength. Rebar failure under tensile stress, such as during an earthquake, is a common occurrence. Therefore, understanding the tensile strength of rebars against natural forces like earthquakes is crucial. Tensile strength indicates the extent of force a rebar can withstand before breaking.

Engineers always use rebars with different grades according to their tensile strength for relevant applications. Among the various grades, A1 rebar has the lowest tensile strength.

Yield Strength

Yield strength is a characteristic of rebar that refers to the maximum force per unit area that can be applied to the rebar before it begins to deform. If the force exceeds this point, the rebar will undergo permanent deformation. Up to this point, the rebar will exhibit elastic behavior, but beyond it, it will permanently deform. Yield strength is measured in ksi (kilo-pounds per square inch) and typically ranges from 40 to 100 ksi for various types of rebar.
